The Sun will not shine on a country where impunity reigns! - PROTEST MEETING
A Protest Meeting will be held to mark the 3rd Death Anniversary of the senior journalist Lasantha Wickramathunga on Wednesday, 11th January 2011, 4 pm @ J.R.Jayewardene Centre, Colombo 7.
This meeting will be organized by the Platform for Freedom, a coalition of civil society organizations and public spirited citizens.
Lasantha Wickramathunga was assassinated on 8th January, 2009 at a High Security Zone in Colombo. Even after the 3 years perpetrators of this heinous crime was not brought to justice.
Meeting will be addressed by the Leader of the Opposition Hon. Ranil Wickramasinghe, Mr. Mano Ganesan (Civil Monitoring Commission), Dr. Nimalka Fernando (Women’s Political Academy), Dr. Paikiasothy Saravanamuttu (Centre for Policy Alternatives), Mr. J. C, Weliamuna (Lawyers for Democracy), Mr. Sudarshana Gunawardana (Rights Now), Mr. Britto Fernando (Families of the Disappeared), Mr. K. W. Janaranjana (Ravaya Newspaper), Mr. Chandragptha Thenuwara (Citizen’s Rights), Mr. Sunil Jayasekera (Free Media Movement) and Mr. Herman Kumara (Land Forum)
Platform for Freedom is a coalition of Civil Society Organizations in Sri Lanka established in January 2009 to campaign for Right to Live and Freedom of Expression with the participation of trade unions, media organizations and political parties.

නඩු නැති රටට මොට පායාද සූරියා...?
ජේ‍ෂ්ඨ මාධ්‍යවේදී නීතිඥ ලසන්ත වික‍්‍රමතුංග මහතා කොළඹ අධි ආරක්ෂක කලාපයක් තුළ ඝාතනය කොට 2012 ජනවාරි 08 වනදාට වසර තුනක් සම්පුර්ණ වේ. එම ඝාතනය සම්බන්ධව වරදකරුවන් නීතියේ රැහැනට හසුකොට යුක්තිය ඉටු කිරීමට ආණ්ඩුව තවමත් අපොහොසත් වී ඇත.
මාධ්‍යවේදීන්ට එරෙහිව පසුගිය කාලයේ සිදු වූ ඝාතන, පැහැරගෙන යෑම්, අතුරුදහන් කරවීම්, පහරදීම් ඇතුළු ප‍්‍රචණ්ඩ ක‍්‍රියා සම්බන්ධයෙන් කිසිදු පරීක්ෂණයක් සිදු නොවීම නිසා වරදකරුවන්ට දඩුවම් නොලබා සිටීමට අවකාශ සැලසී ඇත.
මහපාරේ සගමන් යදින යාචකයන්ගේ සිට ආණ්ඩු පක්ෂයේ ප‍්‍රබල දේශපාලනඥයන් දක්වා මහමගදී ඝාතනය වීමත් ඒවාට කිසිදු වගකිව යුත්තෙකු නොමැතිව සිදුවීම් කාලයේ වැලි තලාවෙන් වැසීයාමත් මේ විනිර්මුක්තියේ ප‍්‍රතිපලයකි. වසර 30ක යුද්ධය පැවැති කාලයේ වත් නොපැවති ආකාරයට විදේශික සංචාරකයන් ඝාතනය කිරීමට පවා බියෙන් සැකෙන් තොරව මිනිසුන් පෙළඹී ඇති යුගයකට අප එළැඹ සිටින්නෙමු. මේ තත්වය පිළිබද සමාජයේ විරෝධය පළ කිරීම සදහා විරෝධතා රැස්වීමක් පැවැත්වීමට ‘නිදහසේ වේදිකාව’ සුදානම් වේ.
එය 2012 ජනවාරි 11 වන දින සවස 4.00 සිට 06.30 දක්වා කොළඹ 07, ජේ. ආර්. ජයවර්ධන කේන්ද්‍රයේදී පැවැත්වේ.
